Cha — Call for Submissions — “Writing Macau” Issue (April 2019)

::::: We have extended the period of submissions of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and photography & art to the “Writing Macau” issue to 31 January 2019. :::::

We are very pleased to announce that in April 2019 Cha will be publishing a special “Writing Macau” issue. Submissions of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction and art are accepted between 1 October 2018 and 31 December 2018. If you have something original, interesting or thought-provoking to say about Macau, we would like to hear from you. Please note that we can only accept submissions in English or translated into English.

Un Sio San (poetry) and Hélder Beja (prose) will be reading the submissions with the co-editors Tamara Ho and Jeff Zroback.

We are also looking for books on or about Macau to review in the “Writing Macau” issue. We welcome submissions of review copies from publishers, authors and translators. If you have a recent book (2015 – 2017/8) of any genre about Macau you would like reviewed (and has not yet been reviewed in the journal), please write to our reviews editor Eddie Tay at eddie@asiancha.com for further discussion. Note that we will require print copies or pdf proofs no later than 15 January 2019 (the sooner the better) to be considered for use in the issue.

If you would like to propose to review a relevant book, film, art exhibition, or any other cultural production for the “Writing Macau” edition, please write to co-editor Tamara Ho at t@asiancha.com with your ideas no later than 31 December 2018 (again, the sooner the better). Please note that the reviewed items can be in Chinese or other languages, so long as the reviews are written in English.

GUIDELINES: If you would like to have your poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and photography & art considered for Cha’s “Writing Macau” issue, please submit your work by email to submissions@asiancha.com. Please include “Writing Macau” in the subject line. Submissions to the issue must conform to our guidelines.
